Holiday Outings in New York & Los Angeles

In 2012, FIG & OLIVE worked closely with Hollenbeck PAL (a division of LAPD) to create a positive environment for kids. We hosted three events for the kids to share our passion for great food, farm-to-table and olive oil. We also taught them how to work in hospitality with one week’s training at FIG & OLIVE. Earlier this year, we brought the kids to a farm for one day; to a local ranch; and this month, we will be sharing a Holiday Lunch and Christmas gifts.

2 oz. Bourbon
.75 oz St. Germain Elderflower Liquor
.5 oz Fresh Lime Juice
.25 oz Taylor Tawney Port
.25 oz Simple Syrup
2 Black Mission Figs (muddled)
3 mint leaves
2 Slices of Fig 1/4 inch thick
Grated Walnut
1 Mint Sprig
Ice
 
Preparation
Cut mint sprig to about 4 to 5 inches long and strip the mint leaves off each sprig until you have 3 to 4 smaller leaves for garnish. The rest of the leaves (3) will be used in the cocktail.
 
For the simple syrup, you will need to heat 1 cup of water and bring slightly to boil. Add 1/2 cup sugarand stir until sugar is dissolved. Turn off heat and let cool.
 
Directions
Using a mixing glass (Boston) or a 2 piece shaker, combine Black Mission Figs, Taylor Fine Tawney Port, simple syrup and fresh lime juice and muddle into a paste. Add 3 fresh mint leaves, bourbon and St. Germain Elderflower liquor. Add ice and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds so the ingredients can infuse. Sttrain contents over ice in an old fashion or rocks glass. Cut one fig in half and make two 1/4 inch thick slices to garnish the cocktail. Grate walnuts over the drink and add a sprig of mint.
